Working at a library one expects mispronounciations to come up amongst the patrons. Today I was called a libarian, but not by a child, but by an adult male. Now I normally wouldn’t make fun of someone for this (okay that is probably a lie) but he did two things that I absolutely hate, so he is fair game.
1) Yelling to me from your computer. I am a human being, please get your lazy ass up and walk to my desk if you have a question. This is a librarym so don’t yell across the room for me.
2) When he finally did get up and come to the desk (I ignored him when he yelled across the room) he interupted while I was helping another patron. Wait your turn pal, the computer isn’t going anywhere.
So he gets up to the desk and says his card isn’t working. Do you want to know why your card wasn’t working? Do you? It’s because you left off the last digit of your card #, dumbass that’s why. After getting him on the Internet, he then comes up to ask if he can use our phones (desk phone not pay phone) to call the unemployment agency. What the hell?
I’ve been at the library since noon and have been up since 7:30 am, running on about 5 hours of sleep…ugh, I hate patrons

I have had a pretty busy week, or a semi-busy weekend which spilled over into this week. Anyway, Saturday I went to an art thing wit Scrabbles, big ol’ warehouse filled with artists selling their stuff. Some of it was good some of it was kinda bad and some was just awkward, and/or disturbing. I then laughed at the models that were in the fashion show, pretentious comes with a funny walk apparently. I was hoping someone would trip and fall on their face, but I was sorely disappointed. Also made a cameo at the remains of the block party. Sad Animals were involved and a picture of Marisa attempting to feel me up.
Classes have also been filling my week up, consuming my life and making me get up early every morning. I have 3 self portraits due on Monday, which I must some how find time to do, and also I’m not supposed to use photos. How exactly does she expect me to do a profile view self portrait without photo reference? I also have 12 abstract paintings due in about a week and the thing about abstract is not knowing when something is done. It’s so awfully subjective it drives me bonkers. I’ll probably be at the school most of Friday painting away.
Last night I went out to the Whiskey Lounge to see the wonderful Warisa sing her pretty songs and be generally amazing (just kidding you really suck). A few library folk and some friends of library folk came out to see her and we all had a merry time. It was open mic night so we had to sit through some other musicians before we got to hear the person we all came for and promptly make fun of them. There was guy with a mustard yellow turtle neck which disturbed me greatly, guy with one rolled up pant leg who looked ready to jump on a bike at anytime, and socks with flip-flops guy. Then there was the girl who kind of sucked and had to sit down to play the guitar.
This morning I woke up at 7 so I could go see Obama in Calder Plaza. It was good speech. My feet were hurting really bad due to standing for about 3 hours, but it was worth it. We couldn’t really see Obama very well though because the teleprompter was blocking his face. I think Margaret got a picture of him and we discussed badly photoshopping in his face on the white rectangle. It would be interesting. Now I am at work and then at 6 I’m heading over to the GRAM with my roommate to see Nigel Barker speak about Richard Avedon…or just speak in general with his lovely British accent. It starts at 7 and is supposed to be out by 9 and then I plan on watching the debates with Scrabbles, mostly to make fun of Sarah Palin, but for educational purposes also…on how to make fun of Sarah Palin even more. I also was invited to 80s night but I may not go since I’m running on about 5 hours of sleep and when sleep deprived I get cranky.
